Answers to your Questions

Hello Jeff:

1. Is there a way to "search" the Discussion Forums instead of browsing through each page?

Yes. You can currently do this, but it's not as easy as it should be, but we're working to make it much easier. Here's how to do it now:

Type in something nonsensical into the search box on the left side of any TaxAlmanac screen - something like "fhhfkjd". That will display the search results page, and at the bottom of that page is an 'Advanced Search Options' section. Make sure that all sections are un-selected, then select "Discussion", type in your search term, and click the Search button. As I said, we're currently working to make this much easier to use.

2. I was also wondering if you know of any GAAP/GAAS/GAGAS Communities similar to your Tax Forum - frequenty I run into both sides of the equation as I deal with both tax returns and audits, review and compilations....? Would this be an appropriate question to ask people in the Discussion Forum?

I have no problems with this type of question being asked on TaxAlmanac. If we get enough of them, we might want to create a new discussion area to house them.

In any event, thank you so much for providing this valuable resource to tax practitioners.

You're very welcome - glad you're enjoying the site!

Accounting Discussion Forum

JC:

I have just set up a new Accounting related discussion forum on TaxAlmanac. You can find it listed on our Discussion Forum Index.

Enjoy!

Just saw where you are!!

Well, I will be driving to Maine in the morning for about 3 weeks. Going right through NH; I was there last month and I saw MOOSE!!! I am staying in the Sunday River area...right outside NH; you live in beautiful country!

Audit, compilation & review discussions

Hi Jeff,

I'm glad you found your answer. At this point I don't see a need to have a separate forum for audit, comp. and review discussions. Personally I find it hard to keep up with just the tax and accounting discussions. Of course if there are lots of these questions, then I think a separate discussion might be warranted.15:17, 9 October 2006 (CDT)Natalie

Users' Group - audit, comp. & review

Dear Jeff,

I'm sorry . . . trying to do too many things at one time. Yes, that would make sense to me. We could add links like the FASB site, etc. to it.Natalie 18:18, 9 October 2006 (CDT)Natalie

east coast to Hawaii

I have wondered for a while if I would ever run into the situation where I'd be working late at night and someone on the Mainland would be up early in the morning working away. Well, it just happened. Make it a great day!Natalie 04:16, 29 November 2006 (CST)Natalie
