I've been full time in accounting for about three years, and did part-time bookkeeping and tax work for several years before that. I focus on the small business market in the Virginia Beach, Virginia area.

Didn't get here via the normal career path. At the age of 50 I decided to make a major career change, went back to school, and began to pursue accounting as a profession. I eventually completed the Masters in Accounting program at Old Dominion University, and began working full time as a solo practitioner in March of 2006. I've since been Certified as a QuickBooks Pro Advisor, and am studying for the EA ("Special Enrollment") exam.

This site is a tremendous resource to me. I didn't get any kind of apprenticeship at a major firm before going out on my own, and Tax Almanac gives me access to unselfish tax professionals who share their expertise and experience. For that, I am grateful!

Aside from the federal tax code, I enjoy running (completed the Shamrock Half Marathon on March 22, 2009--my third one), guitar, time with family, and Fighting Irish football (1975 Notre Dame graduate).
