| Cannot find the answer anywhere on this...
Client filed separately in 2006 while going through a divorce. Her attorney just called me and said she couldn't file separately because she is in a community property state. I thought that this is only if we had to file the state itself, not federal return. Am I wrong? | |

| You can file MFS, but you may have to allocate the community property income and expenses between the two. Pub 555 is useful. | |
