Proseries is Terrible this year. I have been using it

for several years and haven't had any complaints. This year BIG problems.

When you call for assistance, you get a message that the call will not be answered for 45 minutes! DMS keeps crashing and the EFILE updates don't work. The status of my efiled returns keep changing. I have to call daily to see if the returns were transmitted or not, since I can't tell from the homebase.

I left a message to get a response from the Presidents callback line on Tuesday. As of today, no call.

Jim

We have had NO problems. We use the full package 5K worth and so far knock wood.

We haven'r needed to call even once.

What's been happening?

The only one I've had (don't use DMS) is that if you've not opened the file that day, it won't clear efiling...so you have to reopen it to transmit. Hoping that gets fixed soon.

Otherwise, just peeves. Like, why oh freakin' why can't they let have a 2nd printer icon? Some of us use, shocking, I know, MORE THAN ONE PRINTER! And to switch back and forth is about six mouse clicks. I'm also tired of saying, print, and having to acknowledge that it printed! I could on, but I have work to do.

I had a few efile problems with communications last year. It turned out to be the my DSL modem security was set to high to communicate properly with the IRS. Are you a direct or provider filer. If you are direct then drop your security on the modem to NONE. Typical access to the modem is enter 192.168.0.1 in a web address. That pulls up the modem software. Generally the modem security (firewall) is under advanced option or set up. If you have a router in front of the modem you may have to change that. The internal firewall of XP or Office should not be an issue. You may want to check and see if the irs or your provider is on your softlist of your windows firewall. Hope this helps.

I renewed my ProSeries today; hopefully no troubles this tax season. I vacillated between Drake, CS and ProSeries and went with Pro for another year. All my work so far this year has been negligent taxpayers from other years so we shall see.

I agree JR....you have to define a default printer in ProSeries instead of being able to toggle from one to another...oh well something for the designers to work out!

Been asking for it for years. There's been no response.

The wait time this year has been really bad.....20 mins - 30 mins a pop....their is an on line chat option...but sometimes you just want to speak with a live body.

Hopefully, the wait time will decrease...

I use DMS and it has crashed more this year than before.....especially when transferring files between the tax prep software and DMS.

I plan to look at and likely switch to Ultra Tax next year.
