we have a 2008 tax return that an election to forego the NOL carryback was not made. We originally thought we would carry it back, but now the client doesn't want to.

Per reg 301.9100-2(b) we have 6 months from the original due date of the return to make the election.

The only thing that is changing on the return is we are making the election.

Do we file an amended return or just file the original return with the election attached. We are confused since we are not changing anything on the return, just filing the election.
