| I want to be able to generate a pdf copy of the tax return for my client that will have DRAFT or COPY on it. I see clients bring these in from other tax preparers. Is this something that the tax software generates? I use Taxwise and I'm thinking about switching to ProSeries. Taxwise doesn't have this option. I can print to pdf, but it looks the same as the original. Does anyone know if ProSeries will do this?

| Haha! I can't stop laughing. I may try that for printed copies. But how about pdf copies...I guess I could try to scan the printed ones with PBR but they may get stuck in the scanner, then I'll have even bigger issues. There must be a way to do this...--VanjaCPA 14:01, 8 October 2009 (CDT) | |

| I used ProSeries for 3 years and it was not an option in either version. I do not know if they added this for next year or not, supposedly they were working on it. I switched to Drake for next year and can do it without a problem. | |

| It doesn't look like Taxwise has this option for watermarks. I guess I'm going to have to take the PBR route until I figure something else out. | |

| Do you have Adobe Acrobat? You can always add a watermark with that. If I am going to email a PDF I usually watermark it and password protect it with Acrobat (not the same as the free adobe reader).
Lacerte can add a watermark. There are some free or cheap PDF programs that might work if you don't want to pay for Adobe Acrobat. | |

| Tm ea - Thanks for the tip. It turns out I have Adobe Acrobat that came with my Adobe Creative Suite. The only bad thing is that it's on the Mac partition and my tax software is on Windows. For now it will have to do. I had no clue all these things could be done with this software, it's really powerful. I'm eventually going to have to get a copy for Windows. Only if my tax software worked on Mac... it would be a perfect world. | |

| Just looked it up. Cutepdf has watermark capability with their paid version for $50. They have a free trial. I may check it out. | |
