| Does the IRS have a site where you can search out a particular company to get their address, EIN, etc? I'm trying to determine what address the IRS has on file for a client. Thanks. | |

| why don't you just ask your client what address they want to use? Or can't you find the client? | |

| I believe that filing a return with a new address will cause the IRS to update their records. | |

| Go to the IRS website, enter in their address and their EIN, and it will bring up the information you want.
[P.S. I thought only charities had all this information plastered on the IRS site.]

| This is a charity. I went to irs.gov and entered their ein and got no results. I entered their name and got no results. Where are you supposed to enter the info? Thanks. | |

| I have never done this before.
Maybe you have to go the the Exempt Organization section of the site. Or try to find a number for EO and call them and ask them. It's also possible that the organization you are looking for is merely posing as a 501(c)(3)?

| Sorry, let me clarify. I'm doing pro bono work for a workforce housing community land trust here in town. They are just getting started this year and applied for a small ($300) grant from a union foundation. The foundation came back with a letter saying that the "current information published by the IRS indicates another address..." than the address we used on the grant application. I don't know if the IRS is using the address in the SS4 application or the 501(c)(3) application which is different so I figured I'd look for it on the IRS site. I have also never searched out a company on the irs site so I tried it without luck. I feel like a dope calling the union foundation asking them how they got the address from the IRS given the three letters that follow my name. I know I could call the IRS but I'm curious if there is a way to search out a company that is registered with the IRS. | |

| Another advantage of being an EA - nobody at the union foundation would know what that meant, so they wouldn't think you're a dope for asking the question. | |

| Maybe this will help: | |

| Bingo! but it doesn't give the address. Getting close. Thanks. | |
