Kim from the IRS just called me back and said that Form 5695 is tied to Form 3800 and will not be accepted by the IRS until February 3rd (even though Intuit is telling all of us that Form 5695 is efile-ready).

Intuit - Are you listening? Perhaps Form 5695 should be made non-final again in the program, so that we won't get a bunch of rejects between now and 02/03.

I've forwarded this on, Deb.

Oh, Form 3800 is for General Business Credits and while there is at least three energy credit related lines on it, I do not see Form 5695, which is labeled for Non-Business Energy Credits. Sounds like Kim is a flak-catcher. Nor do I see anything on 5695 taking any number to 3800.

I agree completely, but she specifically said the reason for the delay is because 5695 ties into 3800.

Thanks, Tim!

What is sad here is that we were discussing these credits LAST YEAR at the NCPE seminar. All parties only had a year to get ready.

I'm wondering if any carryforwards from 5695, line 30, will go to 3800 next year. Could this be considered "tied to"?

Since the form is new, we will not know if it has a carryover line until next year.
