Taxpayer has custodial account for child. Minimal dividends, but for last year, had gross proceeds of (an investment firm that went under) stock of $4,000 with a cost basis of $59,849. The kid is three. There is nothing he can do but file the kid's return and the losses will carryfoward, right? Thanks for your insight!
