Thanks for the kind words

and also the tip on being able to see changes in the thread as time goes on. You do an immense amount of work for all the people who use this cite. I am going to start a thread post 4-15 about (just me personally speaking) that I learn more at this website during the filing season that all 40 hours of CPE wrapped together. Thanks for all you do.

Hello Trillium, must apologize I accidently posted a response twice. Not sure how to delete one of the duplicates. D 14:22, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

I'm inclined to leave Lee's post stand

former CPA, now financial advisor. Does that not qualify? Kevinh5 18:30, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

Well, based on the discussion

I also surmised he wasn't proficient at tax law. And yes, you and I know there are different levels of tax knowledge even among the cogniscenti. But an RTRP in training is allowed to post here. Surely someone with that same level of knowledge, but a credential, should be allowed. And whether they post or don't post HERE, they're still out in the public. Banning them from here doesn't help their knowledge level any. It only helps us to not see them, so that we cringe a little less frequently. Kevinh5 11:40, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

Heart murmur caused by a leaky valve. Apparently a congenital defect - missing one of the valves in his heart. He's been tired and worn out more than usual lately, two weeks ago went to the emergency room all day without telling me. Doctor there said he had a heart murmur and had to see his regular doctor ASAP. His regular Doc said "Oh I've known you had a murmur for years but I didn't want to concern you with it." Heart Doc said 'Surgery within 2 weeks'. Scary. thanks for your thoughts and prayers Going with him to heart Doc tomorrow. Kevinh5 00:07, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

HI, I have edited my page. Please let me know if if its beneficial for me to provide more information about myself. The reason I don't have an up to date profile is because I only work seasonally and have not been very active on taxalmanac. Thanks again for bringing this to my attention.

thanks Trillium for your response. I have never had any rent to own's and I am confused as to how they are different than a rental of a property. Rent being paid vs monthly Rent paid (in a rent to own deal) which is being applied to the principal only with a subsequent sale of the home.

2 questions.

1. is the monthly rent (in the rent to own deal) which is paid monthly and applied towards the principal considerened rental income for the seller?

2. what I was saying earlier in my question 5 was : if a home was sold for $200000 (sales price agreed upon) - basis on home was $210,000, if the seller is supposed to report the monthly rent (rent to own agreement) on schedule E and he's being taxed on it, how do you calculate the loss. is it (sales price-basis-total rent paid towards the principal by buyer?)of course depreciation and any other loss carryovers from sch e will be considered. that is what I am confused about. why should the seller report schedule E rental income if all of it is being applied towards the principal...

any help would be appreciated. thanks

thanks Trillium. I added a few more details and hopefully I will get some more guidance. I appreciate your help! have a great 4/15 :)

Hi. I am not this person. I entered the url of TA last nite and when I got to the site, I was automatically logged on as this guy. Then I made the mistake of trying to post and my entire IP got blocked. I hope this guy Quiros has not hijacked my IP. Take care. PollyAdler 03:00, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Wow THAT is interesting

proves the spoofing is unintentional. Kevinh5 03:05, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Polly did not post

When I got here last nite I was automatically logged on as this Quiros guy. So I went to the chat room as Quiros and tried to make a post to the gun thread that MP started (bottom line was the last poster). I put in that post that I was not Joshua Quiro8s and I did not know who on earth he was. Well the post was blocked and then my IP got blocked (and I got blocked). This is not the first time I have been automatically logged on as someone else, but it's the first time in a long time. Crow PollyAdler 03:45, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

HI...your pest with another question

I frequently convert on-line articles from various sources to a pdf file. Am I allowed to paste this file as a response. I have a really good one from CPA Journal on depreciation/capitalization vs expense/repair. Since I have no way of keeping track of the url if allowed how would I attach the pdf file? This one is 12 magazine pages long. Didn't want to cut and paste the article.

I hadn't even considered that thanks taxea 12:26, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Appearent Profile violation

No rush, no emergency, but we have a gentleman here by the name of MikeMac who has not posted his profile. CrowJD 03:05, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

The next time he triple posts

Don't worry. The next time he triple posts the same sentence I will mention that he doesn't have a profile. He might be getting up in age and the rules have just flown over his head. I corrected his triplicate post to one post by calling it an accident. CrowJD 03:28, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

Crossed my mind

It crossed my mind that he might be a regular who does not want to use his regular name, but I don't know. If he is a regular under another name who just posts on the chat page, I personally don't care if he doesn't have a profile. I guess we'll find out sooner or later. CrowJD 03:31, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

Uncle Sam's inquiry about the purpose of the Chat Forum (part 1 of 2)

Trillium - Each day as I read this board under the Chat section I'm getting more and more disgusted with Gazoo's posts - who apparently choses very controversial subjects - religion, morality, politics, for example and is quite vulgar and crude in his expression. From what I see - he has no limits as to what will be posted. Is this what the Chat section was meant for?

Chat Forum

So based on what you told me - Chat forum is a free for all - where anyone can post anything about anything with no discretion or concern for offending others with different view points. That then restricts my usage of the board that was meant for all.

What I was looking for you to do was curtail Gazoo's excessive behavior as the Board Monitor.

If that's too difficult - let me know and I'll take him on - AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME - if you refuse to stop him. The choice is yours, lady.

Can the complainer not read?

As the psychiatric nurse for Gazoo, I must complain about the recent complaints regarding his person.

All board members are informed through Mr. Gazoo's profile of his afflictions and eccentricities:

                            >>>>>QUOTE FROM GAZOO PROFILE BELOW<<<<<

Hello, my name is Gazoo. I go by the nickname Gazoo. I am an EA from Mars (planet Mars).

If you'd like to leave me a message, just select the discussion tab at the top of this page. If you are a specimen we are in need of, I also make house calls.

Thank you!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Gazoo is doing well on his medication, and can be trusted (temporarily). Gazoo is off his medication and is being chased by mental health authorities in 3 states. Signed, Ann Grier, Geriatric Psychiatric Nurse.

END QUOTE.

Gazoo is "on the run" across America and recently posts have been traced from foreign countries. He is posting here from various public libraries around the world. Interpol has been alerted not to manhandle Gazoo, but to try to gently apprehend him by shooting him with a tranqulizier dart filled with the medications Miltown (Meprobamate) and fast acting Lorazepam.

He is not dangerous, just insane. Usually, I don't brag about my patients, but I will take this opportunity to mention that the people of the Principality of Sealand consider Gazoo to be a genius, and there is a movement to honor him on one of their postage stamps but Gazoo will not sit down long enough to pose for a suitable portrait.

Thank you. Ann Greir, Geriatric Psychiatric Nurse for Gazoo.

Personal note from Nurse Greir: I don't usually express my personal opininions here since I am a nurse, and not a tax professional. However, I think that if Gazoo and his friends were forced to stop posting in the chat room, it would soon become very boring, and the post count would actually go down in the chat room. I've noticed that when Gazoo and his friends leave for a while, the chat room becomes as dead as Kelsey's nuts. Please ignore this comment as I'm not a tax profession, I'm just saying.

"It's Not My Job"

You must have been a government worker or school teacher or something like that in a prior life. That attitude comes from that civil service mentality.

Apparently I haven't made myself clear.

From the Code of Conduct you led me to - Gazoo is ALREADY violating rule number 1 by not considering the effect his posts have on others that don't share his religious, ethnic, social, economic or political backgrounds. Each of us on this board come from a different background in each of those categories. Yet as a member of the board police - you let it go.

So far - my persistence on this board has forced Tim Doyle to implement some suggestions I gave him to stop the warfare of pro and non-pro users. My persistence also got Brock to change his attitude and finally "become one of us".

Tim Doyle is an employee of Intuit He does what they tell him to do. That's why no doubt he's appointed you and Kevin to be the watchdogs.

It seems that my forceful actions are a result of OTHER PEOPLES' INACTIONS.

So which way would you like it?

Uncle SamUncle Sam 14:24, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

What does this guy not get?

I would just take the opportunity to advise member, Uncle Samuel, that the chat room has been treated by custom here as our public sqaure.

Sam is also free to post his opinions at the chat room (I mean it is called a chat room) and of course, Sam is free to respond (without threats I hope) to other members. We want to hear more from Uncle Sam, not less from him. We want to know how he thinks. Gazoo is not trying suppress Sam's viewpoints or opinions: Sam is free to state them in the chat room. He's free to debate.

In my humble opinion, member Uncle Sam should open his mouth and sing like a free bird, instead of trying to muzzle the opinions and thoughts of others. But this is just my humble opinion.

I encourage Uncle Sam to honor our democracy by declaring his learned opinions on the public square (but he should refrain from making personal threats).

This will end my posts at Trillium's discussion page as I'm sure he's got more important things to deal with today, as we all do.

Signed: Nurse Grier, nurse for Gazoo.

moving post Sept 25 2013

Hi Trillium,

could you please move this posting 'IRS, DOJ and the President should all be embarassed' to chat. Seems politics seep into the tax questions. I didn't want to presume to do it myself.

Thanks, Joe Taxaway 23:03, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Is it just me?

Is it just me, or is this not one of the most unusual threads we've ever had on this board? I mean, I take full responsibility for making a lot of regular threads seem unusual <blush> BUT is not the present thread (starts in chat room, now in tax forum) unusual from the get go?

Thanks T

Well, I am probably the last one who should be complaining about confusion since I've created more than my share of it (again, I blush). But this feller really takes the cake.

Now

Now I truly am an angry camper. I'm a big boy, and I can take it if he stays, but I am an angry camper. Sit and spin because I don't answer questions according to his format? Again, I'm putting in my one vote..but this guy is out of bounds.

A wise decision

"I was out doing real-life stuff" a very smart and very wise thing to do, and I hope you had a great day. I should have done the same thing myself. I am going to make some major changes to my way of computering which are going to take me a while, and also I have already started to help my nephew finish the interior of a new home he built for himself....so I will probably be getting out of here more often myself in the coming days. And it is always good to take a breather. Besides, I need to exercise more than I am doing right now. What a day!

Any idea if this is simply on my page, or a TA page.

Fsteincpa 18:33, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

Wow, it's really slow!

Has someone been dropping the TA servers into a barrel of molasses lately? This place has been painfully slow for me, and on different 'puters, for the past week or so. Maybe it's just since the total outage that I think we had about a week ago.

Or is it just me?

As always, I salute those who serve in the background. Like those who fix other people's spelling mistakes and grammar faux pas <blush> and things like that. Hey, do you know anybody who needs some apostrophes? I've got a coupla hundred surplus apostrophes...

Spell Czech

I object

I object to SC's post because though he correctly (and kindly) removed one of my improper apostrphes, he left a misspelled "Martain". He could have bagged an apostrophe and a Martian, and he missed the chance. SC, I know it's not "it is" and is sometimes appropriately "its", but I can't help myself. I'm the victim here, as Clinton would say. Gazoo 20:18, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
