Starting CPA business

I am preparing myself for the upcoming tax season 2007 (2006 returns). Just thought I would asked for some suggestions, advice etc. I also want to do company accounting/bookkeeping as well. I will be working from home. I have an active CPA license (Ohio).

Karen, Companies are worried you might steal their clients. Just tell potential employers you do not have a side business. You only do a few returns for family. DZCPA@YAHOO.COM DZCPA 02:38, 11 May 2006 (CDT)

Was it the R & D Discussion?

The Chef and the Cook & the books

Karen: one problem is that if this guy ever get's caught, he could say, well my bookkeeper, who is also a CPA, told me it's ok to keep my books like this. In other words, he could lie to try to protect his own skin. I will usually have some patience with a client at first, and try my best to educate them. Document your personal file that you have told him this and that. At some point, however, since you are a CPA, I'd call it quits with this guy. CrowJD 14:50, 18 April 2008 (CDT)

CFE exam

Since you've done a search, you may have noticed that I had a break in my studying. I have been doing a lot of bicycle safety advocacy work. Now that the legislative session is done, I need to get back into studying. I will likely take the exam around September. I'd be happy to discuss marketing fraud services with you. Unfortunately, there's plenty of it to go around.Natalie 15:16, 26 May 2009 (CDT)Natalie

How to ask a tax question

Hi, Karen -

You just posted a what looks like a tax question, but it's on a page very few people will ever see (here). If you'd like feedback, you should repost it on the Tax Forum. There's step-by-step info on how to do this at FAQ #20.

Link to your question

It's posted on this page: Talk:Communities & Designations.

The site has been pretty glitchy lately, so if you went through the four steps to asking a new tax question page and clicked one of the links at the end to post a tax question, please let me know...I'll want to track that down ASAP!
