Thanks for providing a little information on your user page

Your most recent question has been moved back to the pro tax forum, and I'll work on the prior ones later today.

Note - it would be really helpful to have a bit more info on your user page about the 20 years of experience - you say it's as a CPA in a firm, is that all taxes, or something else? We get a lot of CPAs here who have never done taxes before, and that level of experience necessitates different kinds of responses than you would want if you were someone with 20 years of doing all kinds of taxes. Or if you had 20 years of doing W-2 only 1040s at a retail operation, and are now trying to do more complex returns... all of that info plays into making the responses most useful to you.

But what you've provided does, at least, show that you're now eligible to participate on the pro tax forum. So it's a good start.

Please avoid political commentary in tax forum discussions

I have just moved the discussion Olympic Metals over to the Chat forum as a result of your post earlier today that included political commentary. Granted, that discussion has other issues, but even so, I'd like to be able to return it to the tax forum since it appears that the person who started it was looking for actual discussion of the tax issues.

So I'm hoping you'll edit your post to remove the political comments. To do that, go to the discussion, click "edit this page" and then make the changes. Click save page when you're done. There's more info on editing in the FAQ. In the meantime, we'll keep the discussion over in the Chat forum, where political commentary is more acceptable.

(General comments about Congress and the tax code are not at issue here, it's when things get into what one side or the other wants - or is thought to want - that one post seems to generate another, and things go downhill fast.)

End of the forum

You may have heard by now that the Tax Almanac ( ) web site forum is permanently closing its doors effective June 1. Perhaps you have seen the pink bombshell “Important Service Announcement” when logging in.

Long-time TA user ChrisV2 has volunteered to set up a new website where TA users may continue the discussion. The site is up and running now and has an active base of contributors.

We invite you to take a look and join your fellow TA refugees.
