Thanks for replying to my posting on resident alien vs. dual-status. Can you please clarify the above statement. Which elections are you talking about?
The wife is a US Citizen... does she still need to make these elections?

First Time L1 Visa - Election
(183 days is the substantial presence test. You can file a joint return on form 1049 and declare worldwide income. Also file an election that taxpayer chooses to be treated as a resident and that he is filing joint and declaring worldwide income. Election should be signed by both husband and wife.)
Hello, Above posted by you to my posting. What is the Form number to make that election. I am using ProSeries Basic, and could not find on their list. ThanksInagpurwala 13:29, 28 March 2007 (CST)
