posting twice
I've seen a couple of your entries post twice. I wonder if you may have hit the save page button twice thinking the first time didn't work. I've noticed the site is quite a bit slower these busy days, so I can understand how that would happen.Natalie 13:26, 7 March 2008 (CST)Natalie
You're welcome! I just noticed the double post either yesterday or today. I looked at the CPA logo on your page, and I can't figure out how to fix it. If I can, I will.Natalie 18:33, 7 March 2008 (CST)Natalie
All fixed! "CPA" had to be in caps.Natalie 18:37, 7 March 2008 (CST)Natalie

I am not sure I can give you much advice. I am an pharmacist/attorney who worked for 25 years for the Borden Company - 1971 to 1995. My specialty was food regulatory law. About 1978 spurred by an entrepreneurial spirit and the cost of Catholic School tuition I began a nights and weekend private practice that included tax preparation. When KKR bought out Borden and I was liberated from corporate captivity at age 53 I went on my own full time. The severance deal was not bad, I had no debt and only 1 kid left in college so the risk was small. Borden had no one with my knowledge and experience in food regulation so they sent me all of that work. As Borden units were sold off by KKR and they finally went out of the food business I added to both my food regulatory clients as well as my private clients. Until the last couple of years my corporate employee experience was positive - I did my job well, and my bosses left me alone because I handled all the problems and they had no expertise in my area. The last couple of years at Borden were hell as I had a control freak boss who could screw up a wet dream - but I wasn't leaving without my "package". I am now 65 and only do about 100 tax returns a year along with other work - food regulatory for companies and tax/estate/etc. for individuals. I am glad I started to build a private practice on the side as it provided a good business base when I had to go out on my own. I have never had any employees - did all of the work myself. I am not good at managing other people.
Pocono Summit part 2...
I am in Pocono Summit and this is my second season. So far it seems I am growing at a slooww pace! I only have 26 clients this year and still have 3 more who are coming back from last year. Another person contacted me to do their return to get the stimulus rebate check. So I will hit 30 clients. I had 21 last year so I do see "some" growth.
I am growing my business too. I am a software engineer, BS degree in Electrical Engineering and MS degree in Information Systems. Boy did I choose the wrong career path! I also passed my series 6 and 63 exams to provide financial services to my clients. Along with life insurnace and Mortgages. Hopefully, I can make enough this year to cover my expenses for the year. I have a small office in Pocono Summit.
I am now studying for my Series 65 now so I can market myself as a Financial Advisor Representative and then once that is done, take the EA exam. I plan to complete those by tax season 2010.

It's going to be interesting
So many of these things with LLC's are just too loose for me. If you also note how a lot of people talk about guaranteed payments... they are just anything, mean nothing, just plug in a figure with no idea at all that they are supposed to be agreed upon by members. It is an interesting topic in general, but as I wrote Tin Cook, the returns have to go out! CrowJD 00:38, 27 March 2008 (CDT)
Server Time Zone
Hi, you posted to a discussion that was about to be deleted, so to preserve your post I'll transfer it here:
"Trillium, he just wants an answer to his question. Unfortunately none of us seem to know the answer! Also... why is the date March 10th, isn't it still the 9th?"
The time stamps for most of TaxAlmanac default to the time zone for the server, which is set to UTC / Greenwich Mean Time, where it is already tomorrow. If you have your preferences set to your own time zone, you may see the dates/times based on that, and sometimes in the discussions, the date for one post will change based on the preferences of the person replying, but generally it'll be the server time.
