How to link to Publications
Hello!
I saw your comment about not knowing how to link to publications. All you do it to type:
[[Publication 970]]
Note that you need to spell out "Publication" and put the two square brackets on either side. Within the discussion forum index, there's a FAQ topic in yellow at the top. Click on that if you ever need a reminder.

Sleep
Who said I was human? Remember the TA-Robot that was mentioned earlier? ;-) Yes, I sleep. It's nearly midnight here and I was just checking in and catching up before I headed off for the night. I'll be back in about 8 hours with my morning caramel macchiato.
Tonight was fairly productive - in addition to reviewing all of the outstanding edits, I was able to import all of the IRS News Releases for this month.
See you tomorrow!
Tim
Sleep
>>Don't you ever sleep? It's 1.40a here on the east coast. I just popped back to see if anyone replied to my question. How to you manage 700+ returns and still stay up so late?
It's 2:15 am here in Michigan, and I'm still doing taxes, but I don't have to get up early tomorrow. So I decided to stay down here and just keep working until I can't see anymore (while doing my laundry, so I don't have to do that tomorrow.) I usually have to work until midnight to 1 am every night during most of Feb, especially during the first three weeks of Feb. In March and April, I should be able to quit at about 8 pm every night. I receive up to 30 returns a day during the first two to three weeks of Feb (drop-offs, mail-ins, and appts), so I really don't have a choice but to work late. When I quit at night, I just go upstairs and try to go to sleep, so I can get up by 9:30 am. Most nights, I get about 7 hours of sleep. I open my office at 11 am and close at 7 pm (and 5 pm on Saturdays). Closed on Sundays, but I used to be open every day and the hours were longer (back when I was doing about 950 returns with no computer), so it's much better now.
I think more of the larger returns have been dropped off earlier this year, so I'm feeling more overwhelmed right now. I don't remember working this late last year every night, but I didn't waste any time on the web (TA) last year. I know that TA is affecting how many returns I'm getting done each day (plus the delays with some forms, new energy credits, clients getting more absent-minded...), but I enjoy having TA available. Last year, it was about 20 a day in Feb and maybe 25 on Sundays, but this year, it's more like 15 or 16 a day (which is too low, if I'm going to keep up and get them all done by April 14th). By the way, I don't know why my total returns dropped to 736 last year. I was doing about 775 each year in several of the years before last year. Probably due to the free efiling on the web.... Anyway, sorry to ramble on....
So, what are you still doing up? :)
Where to enter 1099 b on my 1040 tax return?
I'm having a difficult time locating the information. I have a few small sales of stocks, less that $200, and a few 1009b forms. Where do I enter the info provided on the 1099b onto my 1040 tax return? It seems like a simple question, but it's very frustrating, because I can't find a clear answer anywhere. Can you please help/

My writing
To type your user name to make a link, type ~ ~ ~ ~ but without the spaces.
Try going to any article, like http://www.writing.com/main/view_item/item_id/222330 and after you reach the bottom, keep scrolling until you come to the words "View David J is Death and Taxes Portfolio" and click your mouse there. You should come back to a page of My Portfolio, in which are listed directories by subject matter, e.g., The Written Record. Underneath that you will find the articles inside are about my late wife's last years....this is why I began writing.....if you click the title Written Record you will see the titles of 22 pieces, with a small description of their subject underneath. Each of the directories contains groups of articles like about Pets, Working, Life in General, Household Hints....there is a couple of longer pieces too but most pieces are about 1200 words.
Thanks for the nice words.

Of course, this is funny
Of course, you are right RGTA, and have been right since the beginning! But, it's fun anyway. CrowJD 14:27, 18 January 2008 (CST)
The Petty Cash
Oh, the petty cash discussion. We were all beating around the same bush.
Driver per diem rate
You said in a January 08 posting...
"...Do the 3/4 prorated departure and return days come into play for transportion workers as well? Driver leaves on day 1, day 2 on the road, day 3 returns home. That would 2 3/4's and 1 full per diem ($78 + $52=130 per trip).
It's the same turnaround trip. My thinking that I can use Method 2 and consider day 1 as a full day since the driver will run until he has to log out. Day 3 will depend on how long he actually logged in."
My question is where does the $78.00 per diem rate come from? I thohght the M&IE CONUS rates is $52.
Thanks,
cgreed
