Hi, Mike!
I just clicked on your profile and figured out who you are <G>. We know each other from many years at m.t.m. (and prodigy before that? I don't remember).
Anyway, I don't know how long you've been around here without my noticing, but welcome aboard anyway. KatieJ 17:00, 5 October 2007 (CDT)
Cool!
Hey Mike,
If I ever get a tax client that is over my head with delinquent tax stuff, you're definitely elected and I'll be glad to refer work your way! Talk to you soon and see you on Tax Almanac!
Sincerely,

Horse Industry Audit
He is a horse trainer who also shoes horses. Thanks....
Thank you, Mike
Thanks for giving your attention to that Auditor thread. You are very kind for taking the time to respond to my questions and I sure appreciate it. BethAZ 13:28, 24 October 2007 (CDT)
De Nada
Irsfixer: Sorry if I got carried away there. I enjoy the back and forth. I have learned a lot from your posts as well, and I even referred a client to your website. Don't know if he was wise enough to make contact. CrowJD 15:52, 31 January 2008 (CST)
Lunch
Thank you for the kind words! After this crazy season is over, perhaps we can 'do lunch' but then I fear that someone will threaten that I 'will never eat lunch in this town again.' I am old enough to remember when PW people had to wear white shirts!

Spouse who has not filed tax returns
thanks for the reply. Re: "estimated liability" I assume the IRS has estimated the husband's tax liability for years prior to marriage, though I have not been able to find out that info.
Taxoncall
Some of the best advice in these threads is the result of someone getting there "bell rung", or saying something that is just wrong. After all its the advice we are after and you give really good advice. Taxoncall reacted to strongly.
BTW, my six year tax return client is still procrastinating. If I ever get the returns done I am going to refer him to you for advice on the liabilty. He will likely owe, and will not have the money. The couple lives in Austin.

thanks so much for your time and answers, much appreciated :) scottycoyote
resources to learn more about IRS collections, etc.
Fixer,
Are there resources that you would recommend to learn more about this area?
Books, courses, etc.
Thanks 94nole

Dishonest client discussion
I will admit I am sensitive at times. I think you and I got off on the wrong foot when I mistakenly used "levy" in a discussion when I meant "lien." It was a simple mistake I had made, yet you had posted it as an urban tax legend. I've noticed some of your other posts, and I think you could use a little more sensitivity. So how about this? I'll try to be less sensitive if you'll try to be a little more sensitive. Natalie 06:14, 8 November 2008 (CST)Natalie
fraudulent 1099
I worked for a design/build company as an independent contractor for part of 2004 and part of 2005. They refused to pay me most of what they owed me. I recently discovered that they had filed a 1099 for 2004, and a 1099 for 2005, showing that they had paid me what they owed me. So not only did I not get paid over $21,000.00 that they owed me, I have also paid the tax liability for monies that they kept.
This was not a mistake on their part. Are their any laws that you know of that apply to this situation? Jb irick 19:39, 17 November 2008 (CST)
I guess we ARE a tough crowd.
LOL. Kevinh5

good point! Kevinh5
That new form
You think we should fill one out for Hkscpa?
Edited to add: sorry if my earlier post was forward and/or incomprehensible – the timing of your post made me think you were referring to the off-the-wall posts by that new user (an annoying mix of misinformation and misplaced confidence). Never mind!
Hess (Breast implant/stripper) Case
Is that the one you were thinking about in that breast implant thread?
Can't find a cite for it, and I can't seem to find any indication of that case in the Tax Court records. Google just turns up references, but no citations.
Have we been had?
