Welcome !

Glad to have you aboard.

Check out the "accounting" forum also - sounds as if you have a lot of experience to contribute in that area. There aren't as many questions posted there as in the tax forum, but things do come up regularly.

Learn to use the search box to the left.....it's a great resource, and will answer lots of questions before you have to have to post a question. I keep questioning why 'we' can't get CPE for spending time on this site; teaching for some/learning for the rest of us.

Good luck. Belle 18:20, 29 August 2008 (CDT)

Thanks for your response. If you don't mind helping me if you can, I'd really appreciate it.

My parents have a s corp . They're the only employees & have 2 pension plans. When their accountant left in 2003 the new accountant never filed 5500's for their plans.

They're getting $15,000 penalties now for not filing 2004-2006. I was just wondering if I can just dissolve the corp. Would they be able to go after any assets from the plan or my father's assets since he is the administrator of the plan.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Thank You

thanks!

Pete, Thanks for your help on the FPO question, and welcome aboard. We have lots of military in my area (Norfolk Naval Base, Langely AFB, etc) so I see lots of FL, TN and TX residents here... just got thrown off a second when one went over to Spain with an FPO address and the W-2s were unusually different.

I don't know how you could stand auditing, but different strokes for different folks. Hope to see you on the forums in the future, and good luck to you if you do decide to transition to the 'tax side' of the business Anchorman 11:25, 2 April 2009 (CDT)

Thank you for your answers to how to determine salvage value (GAAP)?

Houstonp,

Thank you very much for your responses to my questions. Your expertise was extremely helpful.

Thanks again, ATLsFTP 11:22, 5 May 2009 (CDT)

Audits

Prior to starting on my own, I did quite a lot of audits. After I found out how much liability insurance and peer reviews would cost, I decided I would not do any. I do think there is a market for them, however. In addition, I think larger firms are letting go of clients with all types of work.Natalie 04:06, 6 May 2009 (CDT)Natalie
