My name is Tom Halbert. I am a CPA, and have a M.Acc.-Tax. I have been in practice since 1995. I retired from the U.S. Navy in October 1995, and went into public accounting in December. While in public accounting, I performed audits of NPO, and healthcare organizations, performed bookkeeping and write-up services, and prepared tax returns for corporations (C & S), partnerships, NPOs, estates and trusts, and individuals. In Dec 2000, I was recruited as a Director of Accounting at a local healthcare organization, where I managed a staff of 5 in the accounting process, prepared the required NPO tax returns, prepared the Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports, and conducted research as required. I worked in this field until Jan 2006, when I opened my tax and accounting sevice. Between 1995 and prior to going full-time self-employed, I also worked part-time establishing my practice from my home office.
