CPA since 1983.
Spent 20 years at a Fortune 500 company, 15 good years and 5 bad ones. Most of that time I was the Director of Finance. At the end I became pretty disenchanted with the corporate experience. It ended badly, when the company got bought by a large German company and the next day leagues of clipboard hugging Germans descended on us like the plague. They moved the headquarters to the other side of the country. Luckily the severance package was good.
I've been back in to tax for four seasons now. First at a big regional firm, then in a small local shop. I'm out on my own now, sometimes loving it, sometimes not so sure.
One class away from getting my Masters at GGU.... you get out of it, what you put into it. I work extremely hard at it and feel like it has brought me a long way.
For the things they don't teach you in school, I come here and I've learned at least as much lurking here over the last couple of years as I have anywhere else. They should give you CPE credit for surfing this site.
