| I have a client who's children were given under UGMA a US Treasury Bond Strip in 1990. It is may understanding that the oid reported each year should be added to the cost basis. The problem is that it was held since 1990 as we do not have all the 1099-oid forms. The broker does not have them either. One was sold a couple months before maturity and the other was sold 2 years before maturity. Is there anyway to come up with the basis? Should it be approxiately the sale price?
Any thoughts? | |
