Hobbies

I love my job, but the overtime can be a bit overwhelming at times. (If you are reading this, I have a feeling you can relate). My tax season occurs 3 months before everyone else's, which makes for a rather hectic holiday season.

Once summer rolls around, Fiona and I like to do volunteer work overseas. During summer of 2007, we spent a month in Saigon (where Fiona is from). During late April to Mid-May of 2008, I went back to Saigon to work at the same orphanage as before, and also spent some time in the Mekong Delta. We are in the process of starting up a small charitable organization to help kids in the Mekong Delta pay for kids school.

When I use the phrase "there doesn't appear to be any guidance", I am making a pretty strong statement. If I use it, I have spent a good amount of time searching and come up empty-handed. There is always a chance I missed something, but you can rest assured that some diligence was put behind it.

When it comes to the forums, I tend to defer to the preparer community to give more practical advice. If I notice something that is a pure theory or law question, I may comment if I think it will help the discussion along.

TaxAlmanac promises to become an essential tool and resource in the field of tax preparation as it will allow for research and discussion of relevant and important tax issues
