Hello, my name is Rose and I go by the nickname Rose3304'. I am fairly new here. I found the site through a google search for "dog breeding tax info" and here I am. I have been doing taxes for about 5 years now for other people, been doing my own since I was 18 and received my 16 dollars from my 1040ez :). I am a registered Tax Preparer and I plan to go back to school someday to become a CPA. I learn so much every year from those who have unusual circumstances. I currently have a client who owes a few dollars and we were looking for ANY other expenses to deduct when she asked me about deducting the cost of a dog she purchased for breeding purposes. I just read a whole string here about this and I think I understand that she can depreciate the cost of the dog via MACRS (7year non listed?) along with all of the expenses incurred while raising the dog to "breeding age". Wow, I never thought I would come across this one :) Definately a memorable year...
