Hello, my name is Heather. I am a young CPA with a Masters in Business Administration. I was in public accounting for 8 years and about a year ago, I left public accounting because of the long tax season hours and currently work at a large high school in the finance department. I do some monthly work for businesses and do some tax returns from home. My husband and I have 15 rental properties so we are working on increasing our properties so that will generate extra income. I have considered specializing in real estate taxation since I have some experience and knowledge in this area. I am trying to increase my home-based practice so I can leave my current job. I prefer public accounting, but I was tired of the long hours and working every Saturday for 15 weeks in a row. Hopefully, I can gain enough clients to eventually do it full-time from home (or an office if I can get enough income.
