PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Steven H. Deutsch, Certified Public Accountant, a graduate of New York University. His practice, with over 40 years of experience, is limited to taxation, arbitration and other legal support services. A consultant to attorneys, CPAs, security firms and high income individuals and businesses in fiscal areas including bankruptcy, business and professional practice valuation, court qualified expert, determination of economic damages, defense of white collar criminal prosecution, discovery, domestic relations, estate planning, federal and state tax controversies, financial due diligence, deal pricing, structuring, fraud, independent contractor tax disputes, insurance claims, partnership and shareholder's disputes, personal injury actions, securities valuation issues, settlement issues, structured settlements, tax impacting, tax planning, tort actions, and tracing of assets. Engaged by counsel for plaintiffs, defendants, and jointly as an independent expert. He is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association in addition to providing private dispute resolution services to attorneys and CPAs for them and their clients.

Mr. Deutsch is the founder and Chair of the New York State Society of CPAs Nassau Chapter's Litigation Support Committee 1986-87, and chaired the Suffolk Chapter's Taxation Committee 1982-85. Founder and chair, 1988-89, of the IRS Brooklyn District Director's Liaison Committee. He has served the Liaison Committee of the Regional Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, the Division for Management Advisory Service and the Tax Division of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a founding member of the Committee on Financial Support Services to the Matrimonial Bar, formed in 1989, and was an ex-officio member of American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Financial Support Services Committee.

He was instrumental in effecting tax law changes in the areas of divorce and independent contractor treatment of a class of stockbrokers.

Author and lecturer on forensic accounting, the CPA expert witness, the fiscal areas of domestic relations, personal injury, litigation support services, proving business damages, business and professional practice valuation, determining economic loss, bankruptcy proceedings, accountants' exposure in adversary proceedings, taxation, tax controversies, successful defense of IRS challenges to independent contractor status, negotiating settlements, arbitration, facilitation, and financial planning matters.

A frequent speaker and discussion leader at forums for academia, attorneys, and CPAs; with presentations sponsored by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the American Inns of Court, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Bar Associations, the Foundation for Accounting Education, the Nassau and Suffolk Academies of Law, Internal Revenue Service, the New York State Society of CPAs, Universities, industry, etc.
