I am claiming adoption expenses for two of my clients- does anyone know whether advertising expenses incurred to search for an adopted child is deductible? these advertising expenses plus other expenses resulted in a successful adoption. The second part of my inquiry is whether and assuming that the child is adopted in June 2006 and the child was living in the adopted parents home for 7 months entitles the parents to the adoption credit even thought the adoption did not become final until 2007.?

who can take the credit
if two partners adopt a child does it matter which one claims the credit? One partner salary exceeds the max, so naturally the second partner wants to claim.
