Quitclaim deeds California

About the Topic

Hi, I have a quitclaim deed question. I got divorced in 2006. Last week a judge in California threw out the divorce settlement because my ex had not provided required financial disclosure. We have to start over from scratch and the judge plans to use the current valuation of the home, which has devalued significantly. However, just three months after buying the home in 1995, my ex made me sign a quitclaim deed relinquishing all rights to the house. My name is not even on the mortgage. It is on no document associated with the house. His attorney is claiming my 'share' of the devaluation has to be deducted from the final settlement which makes no legal sense to me. Any advice?
