Bookmark Features

  • Bookmarks let you tag discussions or other pages so you can quickly locate them later.
  • Bookmarks notify you of changes made to these pages.

Bookmark a Page

  • Make sure you are logged in.
  • Select the bookmark this page tab at the top of any page.
  • For discussions, simply select the Watch this discussion checkbox on the bottom of the discussion pages and then save.

View Changed Bookmarks

To see which pages on your bookmark list changed since the last time you visited them:

  • Make sure you are logged in.
  • Select my watchlist from the links at the very top right-hand corner of any TaxAlmanac page.

View All Bookmarks

To view all pages which you currently have on your bookmark list:

  • Make sure you are logged in.
  • Select my watchlist from the links at the very top right-hand corner of any TaxAlmanac page.
  • Select View and edit watchlist - the center of three links shown right at the top of the page

Remove Bookmarks

To remove a page from your Bookmark list:

  • Make sure you are logged in.
  • Select my watchlist from the links at the very top right-hand corner of any TaxAlmanac page.
  • Select View and edit watchlist
  • Select the items that you'd like to remove and click the button at the bottom of that page.

or...

  • Select Remove from bookmark list tab at the top of the page you want to take out of your list

Change Notifications

Changes made to pages in your Bookmark list will...

  1. appear bold in the Recent Changes list.
  2. appear on your Bookmark Change list (see above for instructions on how to view)
  3. can be emailed to you. See below for setup instructions.

Email Notification

To set up e-mail notification of changes to your bookmarked items:

  1. Log in and go to your preferences (link is on very top line.)
  2. Make sure you have a valid email address in the Email field.
  3. Scroll down a bit on that page until you can see the Email section. Make sure that the options to Send me an email on page changes and Send me an email also for minor edits are both checked.
  4. If a notice is displayed in the email section indicating that your email address is not yet authenticated...
    1. Select the confirm your email address link and from that page select the Mail a confirmation Code button.
    2. You should receive an email within a few minutes. Open that email and select the link that is included. You should receive a message indicating that your address has been authenticated.

At this point, you are set to receive email notifications when any page on your bookmark changes. These pages can be in the discussion forum or anywhere else on TaxAlmanac - the main page, Internal Revenue Code sections, etc.

Keep in mind that you will only receive one email per page that changes until you view that page. If 5 people add replies to a discussion, you'll only get one email. Once you view the page, the trigger is reset.
