Hi all,

I am curious to know--from those that process payroll through Quickbooks for clients--how you go about that process. Do you just have the client export an Accountant's copy, process the payroll, and then check in the changes? I just quoted my first possible payroll job last evening and I am trying to figure out the logistics of how it works through QuickBooks.

Also, how do you handle the payroll remittances, FUTA and SUTA remittances, etc. Do you process them for the client through EFTPS and EFT (Georgia) or just create the vouchers and instruct the client to make the deposits?

Thanks,

Michael

Michael-

I do this for a couple of clients. For both we use regular backups not accountant copies. I set a date that they drop off the back & we have it ready to return 3-4 hours later so they aren't held up too long. For some I actually go on line & do the EFTPS and others I make out the coupons & give them back with an instruction letter. I also look over their QB's while I have it in house for any other things that need a quick fix. Barry

Thank you for the information!

I think this job went away (I think she was just trying to see if it was even feasible). I did--I think--pick up a huge job doing bill payment, payroll, and bank reconciliations for a trade organization. If it comes through, I will have built my business up (in 1 day) to about a quarter of the size of the business I was considering buying into. Just waiting for final confirmation!

Does anyone know of any good QB Payroll training? or even basic QB and advanced QB training? We have a new hire that we'd like to send to training.
