That it's cold, I'm flying out there to smack you.

Just sayin'.

My daughter moved to Chicago recently. My wife and I were scheduled to fly out this evening to visit for a few days. She made the mistake of sending me the screen shot from her phone of the weather for tonight: it's going to be -18 (yes, minus 18). We cancelled...I kinda like California - it was 78 today.

Tom, you just don't know how cold it is here! Three blankets on the bed, sweaters, sweats, socks. Oy Vay, and the wind chill factor has to be about 50! Yesterday afternoon the temp on the lanai was 54!! That's bloody cold where I live!

Shouldn't avoid a chance to experience 20 below! Getting in the car and finding the car seat has no give! Listening to the trees crack! Cross country skiing under a full moon, going downhill at reasonable speeds since the snow isn't quite so slippery. Watching windshield cracks grow! And, in our case, free hot water and plenty of it. The plumber passed pipes through the wood furnace when it was installed 30 years ago; and the range tank gets so hot during the cold spells we have to dump gallons down the drain.

It is a good time to shop for a house or a car since the cold brings many issues to your attention before you own those issues.

Paula,

I knew someone in Hawaii would whine! I wanted to see if Natalie would complain as well.

When you walk outside, do your tears freeze? That's cold. It happened to me today.

You guys are wimps in Hawaii!

Paula,

I am catching the next flight.

Now to figure out how to tell the wife. :-)

Well, if we went up on the mountain to where the observatories are, our eyelashes might freeze. When I sit on my lanai, my fingernails are pretty cold and so are my toes, so I need socks and sweats.

Paula,

You are getting as bad as Natalie!
