Have any of you guys been getting the frantic calls to file before the 15th? I've gotten about a dozen or so.... and of course, I've been able to "squeeze them in" just in time! :-)
At least I know that my October deadline will be a little lighter thanks to the August hysteria...

What's the August 15 deadline? I'm working on the basis of corps due by Sept 15, and partnerships too I believe (I only have a couple and they're done), then personal Oct 15.

Some of those clients must be thinking back to the old rules where the first extension expired August 15th. Then you could request an extra 60 days to file by October 15th.
I have clients that still think that way as well.

I help an old friend with his tax returns (not for pay) and I wish I had never told him there's no August 15 deadline any more. Used to scare him into thinking I couldn't get a second extension (of course I could have) so we got the returns done in August. Now it's October 14!

There is the 990 8/15 deadline if they filed an extension. As for the rest, I guess I am too honest and I let them know they have until 10/15 and not to worry. I should try to get them in before that, I suppose.

I still have my August 15th rush, I don't tell them they have until Oct because if I did I would never be able to finish all my returns in Oct, because every client thinks they are the only client I have and the August 15th people have always brought in the work first or second week in August, if they know they have till Oct then I won't see them until the 1st or 2nd week in October. And my October is already pretty full. I do enjoy the fact that I don't have to file extensions in August anymore. If a client straight up asks me the question "do I have till October?" I'll tell the truth, but if they don't ask, I'm not telling!

I'm also adhere to the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.
