I'm preparing a 8288-B for a foreign seller of real estate. I have all the info except the buyer's SSN. Does anyone know if the IRS will accept the form without it?

The Form instructions say both the buyer's and seller's SSN must be on the form.

What has me confused it that the escrow officer says he sees these all the time with just the seller's SSN and it's never been a problem in the past.

Ask your client to get it from the buyer.
