Dedecent died this year and this is a second death (his wife passed away two years ago). The only property in the trust is his mortgage free residence. It was sold for 800k and will be distribute his girlfriend and daughter. There will be two trusts to file (A Survivor and Family trust)as first and final year returns.

An estate return is not needed. Can Sec 121 apply to a trust? What kind of expenses can be deducted? The daughter gave the attorney a long list of expenses including fees related to decedent funeral, phone expenses, landscaping.

Any help would be greatly appreciate.
