| It's 8:30 on the East Coast. JDCrow's posts are already dated for tomorrow. Is he in the middle of the Atlantic or just caught in his own peculiar time warp? | |

| Because in Hawaii it's only 3:30 p.m., and I'm thinking of going home as soon as get this one return in order. | |

Why?? Cuz it's "only" 8:30 and my delightful helpful squeezable supportive hot and sexy girlfriend hasn't even *started* making dinner yet... And anyway there're still PBRs to be .. liberated .. in the fridge!
As of yesterday, the days are longer than the nights. What time was the equinox?

I'm always thinking ahead Spanish, always thinking ahead.

| Actually, I'm pretty sure the date stamp is pegged to Greenwich Mean Time for what I'm sure is a very good reason. | |

| I was working late Saturday night because I just got a new client. The client owns a daycare business. She brought in her 2007 returns and I noticed that the prior preparer had filed a 1065 with one partner listed as 100% owner. I asked why they filed the 1065 and I was told it was because that's what the IRS required of LLCs. I explained that you can't have a 1065 with one partner as it was like one hand clapping. She said that the IRS sent her a notice every year, but her preparer always wrote a letter and it seemed to appease them. I asked for a copy of one of the letters, I can't wait to see what was said. Further, the financial statements she brought in had close to zero correlation to the tax return. The 2008 financial statements look equally as inconsistent. So now, I'm working on trying to start to clean up the mess. I've already told her we are extending, but this one is a train wreck, I can't help myself, I have to know how wrong the prior year's return is.
Now I'm wondering, do I recommend that my new client go back to the prior preparer to request a return of fees for unnecessarily prepared returns? He is an unlicensed preparer and apparently quite incompetent. Or do I just wait for the IRS to start licensing all tax preparers? That's why I'm working late. That and just like last year, I've already thrown away my NCAA brackets and kissed my pool entry fee goodbye, there's no need to watch the rest of the games.

| Ahhhhh, I did not work last night. I was forced to go to a bachelor party which started at 3pm. So, I had to leave work at 2. Luckily for me today Responsible Fred did not have that last tequila shot or I might still be in bed recovering instead of sitting here in my office wasting time.
And yes, it was a good show.

| Bjeter: Don't forget, you'll need to get an extension for your new client's *partnership* too!! LOL And if you don't share with us what the IRS letter said, we'll never offer you another cup of coffee. Wanna cuppa coffee? | |

| "Responsible Fred"? I thought he left the building a long time ago. | |

| If he left the building it would be just to come take you away. | |

| I don't know if this counts - but it's Friday night - actually 2am Saturday morning - and I'm plugging away. I decided to take this Saturday off. No alarm, so I can sleep in. I can tend to things other than taxes for one day. Damn those stragglers. | |

| You don't have a Watson who comes to your bedside at 6:15 and tells you it's time to take a walk. | |

| I work at a firm Tuesday thru Friday so my clients are worked friday afternoon-Monday eve. sometimes I'll do some work T-th eve if I'm not at the office too late there. And for some strange reason, my body clock has flipped from being a day person to a night person, so on the weekends I'm often working at midnight. April 15 will not come soon enough except I still haven't made enough money..lots of new clients but revenue doesn't seem to be keeping up. Maybe its all the ones I still have to get picked up... | |

| Joan, I'm having the same problem. Returns complete but can't get people to come in and sign (and PAY!). Perhaps because I notified everyone in writing, highlighted, on their organizers that payment in full due upon pickup (unless they've made specific arrangements with ME). But a lot of the ones waiting for signature are getting refunds - makes no sense to me. | |

| God, I had 6 calls today...can you get me in?? One of my newer out of town clients had the stuff scanned and in to me within hours, all the time praising me for my tax prowness and general goddessness, etc. Made me smile at least. Also offered to pay double... | |

| I am sitting here at my desk waiting for a client who is already 22 minutes overdue and another who is dropping off her information, fighting to stay awake in this ever increasing boredom that has been layed upon me. Can't wait till 6:00 gets here. Then I get to go home and do more taxes. Yea!! What fun we are having aren't we. Better stop typing/talking. starting to babble and mumble.
Sighs | |

| I've had it for the day! Going to the theater tonight, and just looking out the window until it's time to jump in the shower!
I'll be working at least half of tomorrow, too....
| April 4, 2009 | |
| I'm quitting for the day. Ready to relax and I will also be working tomorrow. | |
| 5 April 2009 | |
| I'm working tonight because I have nothing better to do and frankly I don't care about the Final Four, except maybe the Tar Heels.

| This was my second Saturday off in a row. I think it's something I'm going to incorporate into next tax season. I did work from Friday until 4am Sat though. Still it was nice to sleep in and lounge around.
Almost all of my clients returned and are wrapped up, except for the 15% I always anticipate that will be lost. There's only a few habitual late filer clients left. The advertising stopped at the end of March, so I'm only waiting on straglers. It was a very busy February and most of March. Of course, its not over until that day of wonderful days.
| April 5, 2009 | |
| I'm still on Saturday, Rg, so you couldn't have had that much of a sleep in. Or did you write that in anticipation of how much sleep you would have?
The boys are watching Godzilla, so I'm getting some administrative things done.

| I slept in until 11:30am. It was just a pleasure not to wake to the alarm. | |

| It's Sunday morning and I am getting ready to work; I did not post last night because I was too busy pushing out returns. Tomorrow I must report for grand jury duty in Trenton; that's almost as good an excuse to give insistent clients as 'sorry, I could not complete the return as I have passed away.'
Supposed to be a nice day today so maybe we will take a 30 minute drive to Island Beach State Park and see the ocean.....wonder if it is still there. One thing I have noticed is a lack of interest in most of the questions posted lately; either I can't get my mind around them or ......?????

| Fred you might be innocent looking, but you are far from being innocent. | |

| Have you been talking to one of my ex's again? They do nothing but lie I say. All lies, ok, well maybe they aren't all lies, but most of it is lies. I swear. | |

| I worked until 1:45 a.m. Sat night/Sun a.m. - with the help of a pot of strong coffee (first time I've resorted to that this season).
When I saw my husband this morning (I slept in until 8:00 - wow ! ), he said he was worried about me last night :-). I always try to get thru town before the bars close at 2:00 a.m., just in case there's a DUI in my way. My 'dodging' skills are a bit compromised after that many hours. Now I'm trying to finalize all the returns that I have to mail off tomorrow, then to the ones for those clients who are leaving town early for Easter break.

| Don't you just love it when they hit you with 'I have to have it by April 8th because we are leaving for Spain' or some such place? And they usually tell you this April 5th! | |
| April 6, 2009 | |
| Yep, one just pulled that on me; (his info was dropped off on 3/30 including his S corp info)
He added "It's a priority to get them done because he needs to refinance" My response - Yes, I remember that comment when you missed your February appointment. Too bad you didn't get me the information then. I must be getting old....I have less and less tolerance for this b/s.

| I was not working this past Saturday. However, I will be working this Saturday, mostly because TaxAlmanac is more fun than facebook (don't tell my non-tax friends I said that), and I can actually justify in my mind the amount of time I've started to spend here as required CLE. I really learn new things every day! | |
| April 6, 2009 | |
| Belle, have you tried setting up a satellite office in your home? I sure wouldn't want to be on the roads that early in the a.m. after working all day.
'sorry, I could not complete the return as I have passed away.' LOL. Rg, I think I was on the wrong "end" of Saturday. I get it now.
