| Which part of the Big Island are you from? I lived in Kona, but it's not much fun when you're young...unless you consider Wal-Mart the place to be. ^^

| Actually, I live in Honolulu now. I went to high school in Kona though (seemingly a long time ago). I see you're trying to sell your practice -- good luck with that!

| I have a question that perhaps someone in this group can answer. I'm writing a magazine article about the impact on women of the employers' tip credit allowance used mainly by restaurant employers to reduce the minimum wage of their tipped employees (nearly 75% of whom are women). My reference data (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) shows Hawai'i as allowing employers to reduce tipped employees minimum wage by just 25 cents an hour. What I can't understand is why Hawai'i sets the employers tip credit at such a low amount? Seven other states either prohibit outright or do not allow employers to take a tip credit at all. Why doesn't Hawai'i just eliminate the tip credit completely, as California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Minnesota, Nevada and Montana have done? Does a 0.4% reduction in an employee's minimum wage really make a significant difference -- a stay in or go out of business decision for Hawaii's restaurant employers?
