Does anyone have experience with advising travel agents as to when their information gathering trips might be deductible business expenses vs, personal travel, and how to document this?

Thanks.

Apply the facts and circumstances to Sec. 162(a)(2). One thing for sure, Sec. 274(m)(2)(3) will not work. I believe the FAM (familiarization) trip now and then used to be acceptable with good documentation and intent.

Regarding documentation for a FAM, for example, how many business cards were personally distributed. Show me the pictures taken. How will this trip enhance the business. How was this trip used in advertising - etc.
