Okay, here's the deal. I have 1 more class to graduate with my B.S. in accounting. I've applied for jobs all over the place and gotten no where.

Meanwhile I have classmates who already work in accounting.

I'm starting to think I should have majored in something else.

GPA 4.0 (yes, another high GPA on the internet) University of South Florida-St. Petersburg B.S. in accounting, graduating this december No experience (this is the whole problem) I've applied via: Monster jobs, careerbuilder.com, locl governments, a couple of local accounting firms & school websites.

Bookkeeing, accounting clerks, staff accountants, temp agencies, you name it.

I've only gotten 2 interviews during the last month and struck out both times.

This may sound harsh, but perhpas it is not the credentials. You may want to talk to your college placement office. They usually have mock interviews, and can prvide feedback that might be valuable. They can also review your resume, and might have some suggestions.

You might seek a seasonal tax position to at least get into a firm in the interim if you have not found anything by December.

Best Wishes!

I worked for a good sized firm in San Jose and what they did was hire new staff for tax season, if they worked out, we'd offer them a job. A lot of them were getting their masters though and would have to go back to school after tax season and complete their final classes and they'd generally start in August or Sept.
