So did any of you have telephone calls about when to wish for contractions?

Actually there is a standard clause currently going into health care proxies specifically addressing 12/31/10.

I saw my parents' tax return for the year I was born and I swear that my father prorated the exemption; then again after I began practicing, it seemed like every other year he would have a letter from IRS or the State regarding his self-prepared taxes. In fact, I had to deal with one as executor of his estate.

Imagine the horror of someone deciding to forgo aggressive measures to extend life a year or so in late 2010 only to have congress rush a temporay fix to the estate tax in late November. Doctors will become partners in estate planning.

That is beautiful! It almost sounds like a Law & Order plot.

I love the comment in the article about backdating a birth certificate.

My two brothers were born on the same day, two years apart. I seem to remember something about them monkeying with the time/date to make that happen. It is evidently not that hard.
