| Visting fiancee's oldest son and wife, children and others while avoiding both tax questions and that god-awful tradition, the turkey, a food which I can't stand either the taste or the smell. In my family growing up, only my late brother loved turkey, and after he married he would say 'you know you've had the last of the bird when you finish the feather soup.' I say, 'Skip the main course; bring on the dessert!' Tim, fine anyone in the USA who posts here tomorrow! | |

| My husband has a photo shoot, so I'm taking my boys for a bike ride. We're going to visit a local fire department and deliver home-made cranberry bread. | |

| Well, I hope this does not cause my buddy Death&Taxes to be ill but I am very much a tradionalist. We will be having my parents (I am still lucky enough to have them both around to love and agrue over nothing with just for the heck of it....) along with my sister and her two kids for a full on Thanksgiving Turkey (20 lbs) dinner with all the frills and blessings. I am sure there will be lots of snacks, football and probably a beer as well. Once the guests leave to go back home, we will be watching Christmas Vacation - with Chevy Chase (an annual tradition in our home) with popcorn and probably some chocolate. If any of you have never seen this movie - do yourself a favor and watch it - it is one heck of a hoot!!!!

| It's not that I am not a traditionalist; if family were here Pam would make the free turkey she has in the freezer for next month.....I just dislike turkey and cranberry sauce for that matter, but I sit with a pile of mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes plus some stuffing and some green vegetable in front of me. Pam and I are both widowed and somehow found each other, so that is reason for thanksgiving enough to put up with the bird. Tonight I made a big pan of chili....now why didn't the pilgrims use that for their feast? Love ya all, have a great Thanksgiving and come back raring to give us true answers. | |

| Normally, I would be cooking Cornish Game Hens, two of them, one for me and one for my husband. However, this year, will be a bit different. My husband is fasting...in an effort to make his body alkaline ..... cancer does not survive well in an alkaline environment. We will be holding off on the birds until after the 10 day fast. I have many thanks to this group -- I really appreciate the support of you and Tim for monitoring this site. I have asked many a question and hopefully, have been able to assist others as well. God bless you. | |

| What counts is that you are lucky to have Pam to share it all with - Turkey or Not. Enjoy the Chili - that is our annual 10/31 dinner b4 the trick or treaters arrive. | |

| I'm going to my parents along with my husband and daughters for dinner. My sister & her family & brother and his family will be there also, and my grandmother. We have turkey with all the trimmings and I love it. I love having a day to really remember all the blessings we have. Chase, I'll be praying for your husband. I too love this site; I've only known about it a short time, but I've found it really helpful! | |

| I'm working from 9 am to 9 pm. I start my day reading tax news and tax forums until my brain's in gear. Then it's Tax Prep All Day (and hope I don't call the IRS forgetting they're closed today).
But tomorrow's my birthday, and I'm taking my secretary out for lunch and going to the pub after work for a quick pint. When the hub gets home, he and I are going out to a ritzy foo-foo-shi-shi place for a three course seafood dinner complete with amuse bouche and handmade chox w/ the coffee. No Tofurky, turkey, or chili. Oh, and the reason they didn't do chili is that the hot peppers were cultivated by the SW native Americans, not the NE ones. The original Thanksgiving dinner had loads of dishes y'all aren't likely to see at today's Thanksgiving table: succotash, Indian pudding, dense molasses brown bread baked in a tin, and Boston baked beans; and mmm, mmm, good cheese, crackers, and pemmican (bear fat mixed with berries and nuts) for desert! You can blame the Minnesotans for adding the obligatory jello salad in the 30's, and you can blame the folks at Durkee for adding Green Bean Casserole. Ben Franklin championed the turkey so well that it is now the traditional Christmas roast here in England, replacing the former glory of the goose in Victorian times and the boar in medieval times.

| Sorry - I worked today! Guess I am a workaholic.
My wifes kid are here from the Bay area - we are in SW FL. I am still the early bird so I knocked out 4 sessions of QB advisor exam, then went for a 1 hour walk with wifey when she got up at 10:00 (she was up with kids til 3 am - as they are on CA time). now I am back here. We will eat at 3 and then I suggested we leave tonight for Orlando and go to downtown Disney for the day tomorrrow and be back tomorrow night. I figure most everyone else will be shopping tomorrow. How about you?
