For the first time I am hiring a tax preparer to help me during tax season. She is not degreed, not a CPA, not an Enrolled Agent. She will not sign any returns. I will sign everything upon review. Does she need a TIN number? Do I need to notify my software company that there is another preparer even if I'm the only signer?

I have a person who enters data, and often when she is done, the return is ready to go upon review, but she signs nothing, therefore she needs no number since she signs nothing. The only reason I notify my software company is because she is 75 miles from here, but since she prepares no returns, it is all under my license.

I worked as a preparer last year for a large local firm. All my work was reveiwed and signed by a principal, and I was not required to hve a PTIN.
