I am interested in knowing if anyone has reviewed a book entitled "Building, Marketing & Operating a Successful Tax Practice", from National Tax Training School. I'm an experienced accountant CFP with 20 plus years experience with my own shop. I'm always looking for new marketing ideas, and just wondering if the book has any worthwhile suggestions. Or is it geared for someone just starting out.

I have read the book and found it to be OK. I didn't really get a great deal out of it. If you would like to read it I can send it to you. Let me know @ mikec61@comcast.net.

Thanks for the response Mike. I'll take your word. No need to plunk down $40.00 for a book that is more or less general in substance.

Exactly right. In our business we can spent it on something that will give us a better return.

I agree - it is OK, but I got a little irritated when some of their recommendations took the form of "having an internet connection is a good idea for a tax practice" and "there are computer programs out there that make your life easier." Well, duh...

I took the course in 2000 and received the book. Then I bought the updated addition in 2005 I believe. Nothing new that I am not already doing or know.

Get a grill, and some hot dogs going out front. This is a lot better than running around in a green costume blocking traffic. Besides that, I've found that after 8 years of the GOP in the Whitehouse, there are a lot of hungry people out there, that really do appreciate a free meal.

Food and sex still work best, anyone will tell you that, and you are wasting your money on these eggheaded authors.
