| IN TOO MANY YEARS OF IRS AUDITS FOR CLIENTS I HAVE NEVER UNTIL NOW HAVE I HAD AN AGENT THAT HAS INSISTED ON A PERSONAL INTERVIEW WITH MY CLIENT. AS POWER OF ATTORNEY, I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO FIELD QUESTIONS. JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT THE RULE IS. | |

| (1) Do not use all caps.
(2) Complete your profile. (3) I do not know how many audits you have done but it is routine to be asked for an interview with the client. I never comply but they typically ask.

See IRC ยง7521(c) - that's the LAW. No administrative summons = no client.

| These days we have a lot of poorly trained, aggressive auditors. It used to be that you could go to an audit and expect the person across the desk to be reasonably well-trained & prepared. No more. Agents going on detail are fewer and fewer. The new ones have just enough training to really mess things up. We need to be aware that the agents will be abusive and be prepared to educate them. | |
