| Client's spouse (retired and on SS) died right after they received the $300 check for her. Since the check is based on 2008 tax numbers, is it OK to keep it? I believe nothing needs to happen, just wanted to confirm. Any IRS publication you can reference to? I did search the IRS site and read the Q&As but could not find the answer. Thank you.

| You are correct, the check is theirs to keep - I was on the IRS conference call a month or so ago, and that particular question came up. Once you receive it it is yours.
