| Spidell Publishing is having a special on the Spidell's Analysis and Explanation of California Taxes 2008 edition (for TY 2007)(10 bucks off and free shipping), but it ends the 31. Anyone use this series? Is it any good? I know I've seen a couple of you guys reference the Spidell Tax Letter. | |

| It seems pretty pricey even with the discount. I don't know their products. | |

| I worked with Bob Spidell quite a lot, and since he retired I stay in touch with Lynn Freer and Gina Rodriguez. They put out a first class product. The monthly Spidell newsletter is a must for California tax practitioners. Trust me, if you don't subscribe to Spidell, you don't know what's going on. They have saved my bacon more than once over the years, and when I was actively involved in following legislation and case law we helped each other out on many occasions.
I haven't looked at this guide, which I think is a fairly new product. I'd bet it's better than the CCH Guide to California Taxes; in fact, I may look at it as a substitute for the CCH book as a text for my graduate class next fall. However, if you already have the CCH Guide, you probably don't really need it. | |
