My friend's information: nonresident alien, pianist, makes incomes from teaching and performing, files his first year 1040NR for 2007. Question: (1) Does he need to file Schedule C and SE with 1040NR? (2) Are there any specific tax rules applied to musicians? (3) Any other Schedules he may need to file with 1040 NR? (4) How about MA NR return? Thank you very much.

Nonresident aliens are not subject to SE tax.

What country is your pianist from. There may be treaty implications.
