Think I know the answer to my question but want to give the benefit of the doubt to my client. Can you include cancer insurance that is a separate policy from the regular health insurance policy in the total health insurance used for self-employed deduction?

Cancer policies typically have disability income components which are not eligible for the Sec. 162(l) deduction. Unless, there is a way to segregate the cost of the disability coverage, you would have a difficult time determining the cost allocable to the medical care portion of the policy.

I have been trying to find the link to a recent tax court memo mention recently in one of these discusions. It was the one where the insurance policy was paid by the wife and the premiums were reimbursed.

Please help
