Dear Members,

I am part-time tax preparer. I have about 30 clients and I been using ATX software for last few years. However I am not happy with their decision to discontinue their online discussion board in the middle of last tax season. I like to switch to another provider. Please provide your suggestion which one is the most economical considering my limited number of clients. Thanks and appreciate your response.

Have you gone to the following site?

[1] It is run by ATX customers and might help you with problems you might be having do to ATX (CCH) idea of new customer support.

If you are e-filing less than 5 use Turbo Tax. If you have an EFIN number and file more than five returns, you will need something like I use which is Pro Series. In your case you would pay by the return. The base software would be around $220.00 plus approvimately $30.00 per return for federal and state. The package itself runs around $1200.00 plus you have to pay for the corporate returns.

I use TaxAct Professional. Good deal for a small practice. Don't expect all the bells and whistles.

Funny, but I bet if you took brand names out of the ATX Board, you might not know it from other software boards.

My ex-assistant when I lived in upstate NY liked TaxAct for her 20-30 clients, but she hated their efiling back then, probably because the fees were more than my Proseries.

Thanks a lot for sharing the information. It is great to know that ATX users have a discussion board now. I will share this with other ATX users that I happened to know.

I'm a long time Proseries user who switched to TaxWise last year and then switched back to Proseries, I've done my first few returns and all I can say is it's good to be back and you get what you pay for.
