Well, it looks like another celebrity bought the farm, albeit a minor one.

It seems Billy Mays will be selling his OxyClean in heaven now and not to us.

http://www2.tbo.com/content/2009/jun/28/281143/tv-pitchman-billy-mays-found-dead-tampa-home/news-metro/

I was more upset about Farrah and Ed McMahon then Michael and now this news. When will the madness end?!

Anyone want to start taking bets on which celebrity might be next? (Only kidding!)

"WAIT THERE'S MORE"

I will miss his sales pitch. I also remember his interview on Leno with Dana. It is a must watch.

Yeah, we don't have enough salesmen in this Country. It's rather sad to see one go. <cough>

Karl Malden Dead at 97 years old. You might remember him as General Bradley in the movie Patton.

He played in the movie version of "A Streetcar Named Desire" also, didn't he? With Brando, et. al.

At least Malden died at 97 and was married to the same woman for 70 years.

He was also on the "Streets of San Fransisco" TV show with a young Michael Douglas. My sisters didn't miss that show.

Why is not getting the same sensational coverage Jackson is getting? What he did in Hollywood is rare.

That is newsworthy.

Steve McNair (football quaterback) is no longer with us.

Taocpa (talk|edits) said:

When I heard this, I was a bit surprised. He wasn't the type of athlete to hang with the thugs and the like. He seemed like a decent guy. Now the story is taking a different angle. Too bad about McNair, though. No one deserves to die in that fashion.

July isn't starting out to be a good month for celebrities, either.

Tom, I think a lot of this may center on the young lady he was shacked up with (which is usually a reflection of the man's poor judgment; I can't put it all on the women!). He might have figured that his career was over, so he might as well roll the dice on a torrid affair (not unlike the Governor of South Carolina, who's girlfriend apparently does not own a gun since the governor is still alive).

You can't judge a book by it's cover, though. If you will remember, Borat had no problems with dating the black prostitute Luenell in his original movie. It was a true love affair. That's because Luenell was a lady.

McNair's death is beginning to sound like a Reverse Mayerling, for all you Crown Prince fans. When I was younger I bore a striking resemblance to Rudolf Hapsburg, except for the color of my eyes, and my father had sparkling blue Hapsburg eyes.

CrowJD (talk|edits) said:

6 July 2009
You might not have realized that Borat actually hails from Austria.

I would also point out to Tom that all these people who died (before their time, even Malden!), were died in the wool L I B E R A L S!

It seems that the conservatives are generally able to cheat death, like they cheat on everything else (while, of course, lying through their teeth about it).

I only mention this because "conservative" Representative Peter "Caveman" King was quoted today setting the record straight about these confounded liberals.

Fsteincpa (talk|edits) said:

6 July 2009
yes, and Rep Peter Kings rant on Michael Jackson the pedophile is right on tho. I don't care how good his music was, the guy should have been put away, not worshiped.

Not saying that cheating on your wife is right, but it's a heck of a lot different than molesting a child.

Don't worry Fred, I have not joined in THE REVERAND Al Sharpton's call for a national day of mourning for the Glove-ed one. I am actually trying to test the limits of Tom's blood pressure medication (which I hope I have stayed within the parameters of it).  :)

Taocpa (talk|edits) said:

Oh, I am not on blood pressure medication. Too many MS medications. Surprisingly, my blood pressure is normal.

Crow, it seems while conservatives cheat death, liberals cheat on their taxes: Rangel; Geithner; Kimba Wood (Atty General Nominee under Clinton), Sebelius, just to name a few.

I have pointed out before, this isn't a liberal or conservative issue. Both sides are GUILTY of hypocrisy. Just depends on whose hypocrisy you want to believe.

Now back to the topic at hand, while not a true celebrity, but a name nonetheless, Robert McNamara died yesterday.

Taocpa - I so agree with you about the hypocrisy on both sides -

It seems like LIBERALS want the government to, within reason, solve some problems for us, while CONSERVATIVES think the government is not that effective at solving our problems & can do more harm than good. Both valid and sincere points of view.

But then there are our POLITICIANS, who I swear seem to arbitrarily pick the side they think will keep them in office.

Sometimes somebody says something that has to be said: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9777174/Don/'t-be-so-quick-to-make-McNair-a-hero.

And I wonder about the political leanings of these 52,000 outstanding citizens:

http://www.newsday.com/business/ny-bzswiss0630,0,6344190.story

Wonder if we will find Duke Cunningham on the list?

Always struck me as odd that Dems have tax issues, whereas modern GOPs seem to stray so easily from the fold. Duke seemed to do both. What a man!

Ah, but neither party tried to get rid of land mines, like other saints did.

I was watching the memorial service on TV today, and they said we should do something to remember MJ by, so I've got some ribs going in the smoker, and a small watermelon chilling in the frig. Though frankly, I'm not sure that The King of Pop was a fan of these "traditional" favorites.

What a mess. It will all be over soon (or as soon as no one can make a dime off of it). Come to think of it, this could go on forever...ARGHHHH!

I saw that quote by Peter King. Usually it takes a pedophile to know one. Peter Kings closet door needs to be opened to see what skeletons(or little children) fall out.

CrowJD (talk|edits) said:

Don't worry, King won't be making the news for long. Rumor is that...s a r a h.... is coming to the lower 48, bringing her special brand of incoherency with her. Shhhhhh. Forget I said that.

Growl.

The death of a single U.S. Servicemember is a far greater loss to the country than would be the demise of a DOZEN creepy perverts, regardless of their accumulated wealth or marginal ability to sing and dance.

NMex - Amen to what you said.

Lskeys - Peter King spoke the truth. NMex is correct. MJ may not have been a pedophile (I actually don't think he was), but the MJ coverage has been too much. But don't you think it was a little odd that MJ had kids sleeping in his bed at his age? Would you let your kids sleep at MJ's home?

Now, back to the topic at hand: You don't know him, but you know the name....

There are allot of tasteless jokes about MJ that I can't really say out loud at the office.

Somehow, everytime i turn on the TV - somebody does something that reminds me of him.

When A NBC reporter said: "Michael Jackson touched so many people in so many different ways." I automatically thought of a comedian's joke:

"McDonalds is making a new burger for MJ its gonna be 50 year old meat inside 10 year old buns."

Forgive me for being tasteless - I am a Tax Guy.

Good jokes Tax Titan. I have to remember those to tell some friends.

Well, we all know by now "Uncle Walter", Walter Cronkite died Friday, July 17, at 92.

You think if Casey Kasem dies this month, will we say, "The hits just keep on coming!"?

I remember watching Walter Cronkite on July 20, 1969, as he announced with glee the moon landing. My whole family watched in front of our little tv set (no big tv's back then, I think it was 14"). It seems appropriate he died this week while we remember the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11.

For you youngin's, there were tv's that were actually black and white, had tubes in them and small. They weren't digital and we also didn't have 50 gazillion channels. At most we had VHF, UHF channels with 3 news channels ABC, CBS and ABC. We had antennas, had Pong as a video game and survived just fine.

Walter Cronkite lived too long, in a way, so that so many who saw him and heard him now have little play with media or internet content today. The man covered elections, the Vietnam war and was possibly the first newscaster to devote real time to Watergate on his nightly telecast. I cannot get over the difference in coverage between his death and that of that consumate shill, Russert, last year.
