What is the maximum you can take for a pickup truck over 6000 but under 6000 pounds. I am having difficulty finding anything which specifically addresses pickup trucks. The only comment related refers to an interior of 6 feet or more but it appears to be refering to cargo vans.

I believe that the under 6000lb pickup truck is classified as a light truck, suv, etc. as long as it does not have any of the modifications, such as permanent fixures that would make it highly unusable as a day-to-day vehicle. I need to know what you mean by maximum you can take. The standard milage rates are really high for 2005. What is the cost and % use of the truck? Is the owner also using it for personal use? Splitting listing property between personal and business use and then depreciating it has been a pet peave for the IRS; in my humble experience.

Assuming the truck costs over $16,300 the maximum 179 is $3,260 for 2005.
