Are retirement benefits paid to a widow over several years subject to self-employment taxes?

NO

I have never seen where retirement benefits paid to anyone would be subject to SE taxes. Just not part of the equation.

Actually even w-2 wages, if actually paid in the calendar year following death, are not subject to FICA. Basic rule. Dead people do not pay taxes.
