Have a situation where the client is over the 150k for deducting Sch E 25k losses (100% Rental Property). I am thinking that I can probably take the mortgage and RE tax expense on the rental prop. through schedule A to maximize otherwise deductible expenses. Don't see where the code would prohibit this treatment.

Any comments are helpful.

Thanks,

also, would a rental qualify as a principal residence or second residence?
